Wednesday 12/4: Dave Eggers will be reading from The Captain and the Glory: An Entertainment. Book Passage Ferry Building in San Francisco at 6 p.m.

Michael Frank will be discussing his new novel, What Is Missing. He will be joined in conversation by Lindsey Crittenden. Green Apple Books on the Park in San Francisco at 7:30 p.m.

Thursday 12/5: Margaret Ross (A Timeshare) will be reading from her poems as part of UC Berkeley’s Lunch Poems series. Morrison Library in Doe Library (UC Berkeley) in Berkeley at 12:10 p.m.

Friday 12/6: Matthew Schuerman will be discussing Newcomers: Gentrification and Its Discontents. He will be joined in conversation by Lydia Chavez, founder and executive editor of Mission Local. Alley Cat Books in San Francisco at 7 p.m.

Jenny Brown will be discussing Without Apology: The Abortion Struggle Now. She will be joined in conversation by Allie Lahey and Meagan Day (Maximum Sunlight). East Bay Booksellers in Oakland at 7 p.m.

Saturday 12/7: Beth Piatote will be reading from The Beadworkers. She will be joined in conversation by Sharma Shields. Book Passage in Corte Madera at 4 p.m.

Don’t miss this winter’s Babylon Salon, featuring Jamel Brinkley (A Lucky Man), Chia-Chia Lin (The Unpassing), Thea Matthews (Unearth [The Flowers]), Amy Berkowitz (Tender Points), and Celeste Chan. The Armory Club in San Francisco at 6 p.m.

Sunday 12/8: City Lights will be celebrating the publication of two translations of Silvina Ocampo’s work: Forgotten Journey and The Promise. Join translators Suzanne Jill Levine, Jessica Powell, and Katie Lateef-Jan for a night of readings and discussion. City Lights Booksellers in San Francisco at 5 p.m.

Monday 12/9: Anniqua Rana will be reading from Wild Boar in the Cane Field. She will be joined in conversation by Soniah Kamal (Unmarriageable). Books Inc. in Palo Alto at 7 p.m. 

Tuesday 12/10: US Poet Laureate Joy Harjo (Conflict Resolution for Holy Beings) will be discussing her work. Jewish Community Center of San Francisco in San Francisco at 7 p.m. ($30, tickets required).
